About Victoria
I’m a full-time doctoral student, part-time consultant, and full-time thinker about food (I hate the word foodie).
I am an almond-lover (my friends call me Marzi Pan). I also have a penchant for Orbit spearmint gum, gnocchi, popcorn with nutritional yeast, coffee, Theo’s chocolate, ginger beer, Thai food, and avocado milkshakes. I avoid frosting, shiitake mushrooms, and super spicy food.
I like to stay active by doing a lot of walking, biking, rock climbing and snowboarding.
When I’m not writing my dissertation, climbing, or spending time with my boyfriend and friends, I lust after images of food online, try out new recipes, dine out, and yelp.
Because I once gained (then lost) 30 lbs (a lot of weight for someone my height, and a lot of weight by any standards, actually), I know how easy it is to overindulge and lose track of one’s health, yet I also know a little bit about what it takes to reach your goal weight and maintain it (see below for 2008 Vicki and 2010 Vicki).
With that said, I strive to find balance between enjoying guilty pleasures in food and sensible eating–what I call victorious eating. I hope to inspire you with these food-related posts to find the balance to indulge without guilt while eating sensibly as well. Here’s to eating victoriously!
